how we build power
BAJI’s Power Building Team (PBT) includes our Organizing and Civic Engagement teams who are based in Atlanta-GA, Houston-TX, Los Angeles-CA, Inland Empire-CA, Miami-FL, Oakland-CA and New York City-NY. This work also includes a National Youth Organizing program with Black migrant youth around the country.
The PBT team equips communities within the Black diaspora with the tools to build collective power and shape the decisions that affect our lives.

We break down the policies and systems shaping our lives so our communities can act with knowledge and power.

We equip Black communities with the information and resources needed to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

We bring Black migrants and African Americans together to take collective action on the issues affecting our communities.

We cultivate Black leaders with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to organize for lasting change.

We advance policies that protect Black communities and promote racial, social, and economic justice.

We build strong alliances across communities and movements because our collective power moves us closer to freedom.
