OUR WORK

BAJI’s Policy Team advances bold, community-informed solutions that center Black immigrants in the fight for racial, social, and economic justice. We work at the local, state, and national levels to shape policies, challenge harmful systems, and ensure our communities are not left out of immigration reform. Our approach is grounded in lived experience, driven by data, and aligned with the needs and priorities of the people most impacted.

  • Our research and analysis are rooted in the lived experiences of Black immigrants. We produce data-driven insights that inform policy, challenge harmful narratives, and equip communities and decision-makers with the information needed to drive equitable solutions.

  • At the local, state, and federal level, we advance policy solutions that center Black immigrants and address systemic inequities. Through legislative engagement, coalition work, and community-driven advocacy, we push for policies that protect our communities and create meaningful, lasting change.

  • We work to ensure policies don’t just pass—they deliver. BAJI monitors implementation, tracks impact, and holds institutions accountable to the communities they serve. We partner with advocates and community members to make sure policies are enforced, responsive, and aligned with the needs of Black immigrants.
